Items That Do Not Require Continuous Supplies

The school clinic is equipped with only basic appliances and medical devices, more is needed to provide basic care to school children, locals and NGO staff.

  • Reusable ecg-machine
  • Point of care hemoglobin device
  • Patient trolleys/stretchers with side rails
  • Multiparameter patient monitor (ECG, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, preferably etCO2) – preferably portable
  • Pulse oximeters (portable and fixed)
  • Thermometers (digital, infrared, tympanic, oral/axillary/rectal)
  • Glucometer (with initial set of test strips and lancets), other (cholesterol, uric acid, etc)
  • Otoscope and ophthalmoscope set
  • Manual bag-valve mask (Ambu bag) with different mask sizes
  • Suction machine (manual or electric with canisters)
  • Defibrillator (preferably with pediatric and adult paddles, if available)
  • Portable oxygen concentrator
  • Moveable stretchers/gurneys
  • Wheelchair
  • Privacy screens
  • Splints (SAM splints/foam splints/aluminium splints and wrist/hand-foot/ankle splints)
  • Immobilizers (cervical collars: various sizes)
  • Traction kit
  • Thermal blankets
  • Lockable medicine cabinets
  • Biohazard waste bins and standard waste bins (with foot pedals)
  • Emergency lighting (solar-powered, rechargeable, or battery-powered), including head gear

Items Requiring Continuous Supplies

A lot of items are missing from the school clinic. The clinic is used for triage and essential treatment of locals, NGO employees and school children. Some items require continuous supply.

  • Laryngeal mask airways (LMAs): various sizes
  • Disposable suction catheters and Yankauer tips
  • IV cannulas (pediatric and adult)
  • 3-way stopcocks
  • Tourniquets (disposable or reusable)
  • Sharps containers
  • oral rehydration salts (ORS)
  • Adrenaline/epinephrine (Epipens for anaphylaxis)
  • Glucose gel/powder for hypoglycemia
  • Suture stapler
  • Zip stitch (bandage and waterproof butterfly strips/tyraps)
  • Burn dressings, burn blankets and topical burn care
  • Rapid test kits (malaria, HIV, dengue, pregnancy)
